R.E.I.L.’s Book Tour for Ashes to Justice

After two years of a pandemic, we’re all hungry for in-person interaction again. That’s why Day Eight is excited to announce the poet R.E.I.L.’s in-person book tour for Ashes to Justice, a poetry collection published by Day Eight in February 2022. Purchase your copy of the book here.

R.E.I.L. kicks off her tour at the Association of Writers and Writing Programs conference on Friday, March 25 at 5:00 PM EST at Making Worlds Bookstore & Social Center in Philadelphia. Get excited, because R.E.I.L. is a spoken word poet, and engaging with her poetry live is an extraordinary musical experience. R.E.I.L.’s poetry focuses on her personal experiences, including work that reflects on child sexual abuse, family, and sexuality. At this AWP offsite event, R.E.I.L. will be reading alongside fellow D.C. area poets Jeffrey Banks, Jenn Koiter, and Gregory Luce. To find more information about the event and register, visit the Eventbrite page.

On Saturday, April 9 at 7:00 PM, R.E.I.L. will be in conversation with Kim B. Miller, poet laureate of Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park, Virginia, at The Writer’s Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland. RSVP for the event on The Writer’s Center website.

On May 21, 11:15-12:05 PM, R.E.I.L. will be reading at the Gaithersburg Book Festival, which will take place in Gaithersburg’s Bohrer Park. Like all of the festival programming, the event is free to attend and is open to everyone.

And on May 22, 3:30-5:00 PM, join Day Eight for R.E.I.L’s official book launch party for Ashes to Justice at The Gantry, a new residential development located in the Union Market neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Registration to attend on Eventbrite.

Recent reviews and interviews featuring R.E.I.L. and her book have appeared in publications including Tagg Magazine, Oyedrum, DC Trending, District Fray, and Savvy Verse and Wit. R.E.I.L was also recently featured on Carolivia Herron’s radio show, Epic City, on Takoma Radio.

Norah Vawter of DC Trending had this to say about the book: “Ashes to Justice is ultimately a story of survival. It’s a story about how words save us, define us, uplift us, and help us rise from the ashes. No matter your own personal story, I think any reader can find a way into this gorgeous collection of poems.”

Thank you for supporting R.E.I.L. and Day Eight. We look forward to seeing you at these events.
