Day Eight is proud to announce the launch of Write Now, a Writing Circle for Women and Girls, co-directed by poets Kim B. Miller and Shaquetta Nelson.

Write Now is a new program designed to support writing by women and girls. It consists of two components geared toward high school students: monthly club meetings and a one-week writing camp.

The monthly club meetings involve activities and field trips. They will begin in May and take place on the third Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM.

The one-week writing camp will take place daily, Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 4 PM, July 24-29, at the Shepherd Park Juanita Thorton Public Library located at 7420 Georgia Avenue NW, Washington, D.C.

Leadership for the project includes the project directors and Dr. Casey Catherine Moore, Dine Watson, Holly Karapetkova, Thea Joselow, Norah Vawter, Liana Conyers, and Cecilia Mencia.

At the conclusion of the program, the project directors will curate an anthology of writing by the program participants, which will be published by Day Eight in fall 2022.

We are thankful to the Cornelia T Bailey Foundation and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities for providing financial support for this project.
