2019 DC Poet Project Launches March 9

The first event in the 2019 DC Poet Project poetry reading series and open mic competition is Saturday March 9, at the RISE Center.

This special event celebrating LGBT activist and DC poet Essex Hemphill features poets Regie Cabico and C. Thomas, with guest Honorary Poets Councilmember Trayon White, Philip Pannell, Marvin Bowser, and Ron Moten.

The following weekend, March 16, Regie Cabico will teach a FREE workshop from 11:00am to 12:30 at Check It Enterprises, and from 1:00-3:00 the second DC Poet Project reading and open mic will occur at We Act Radio, celebrating the legacy of Malcolm X. Register for the workshop here.

Are you a poet? Come read at the open mic! One open mic reader will be awarded a $100 cash prize, and invitation to compete for a book contract including $1000 cash prize.
