“When it comes to supporting artists and arts writers, Robert Bettmann is a force of nature. Lucky the creators and annotators who meet his standards, and lucky the audiences and readers who can appreciate the results.”

What Does Day Eight Do?
Bourgeon’s mission, through the online publication and community initiatives, is twofold: to increase participation in the arts and to improve access to the arts. Founded in 2005, the arts magazine Bourgeon connects new audience to new artwork, supporting the highest achievements in the arts. In 2012, Day Eight has started creation of a "best of the first five years" book, to include fifty articles by fifty contemporary artists. The Bourgeon Book will be an anthology of contemporary art written by the artists themselves.
The dance company Bettmann Dances is driven by a vision of dance as a part of the public pursuit of civilization. The company is currently in the midst of a multi year exploration of security, which premiered around the ten year anniversary of 9/11. The company is available for arts education and public performances, lecture demonstrations, residencies, and workshops.
