About the Conference Topic
Independently-published books and books published by small publishing houses are intellectual and cultural highlights of each year, yet many receive not a single review. Join critics, editors, publishers, authors, and the literary community to discuss. All events are free and open to the public.

New Book Reviewer Project
Within the scope of the conference, eight writers have been commissioned to draft book reviews. The reviews will be published post-conference by Washington Independent Review of Books and The DC Line. The New Book Reviewer Project is designed to grow the cohort of qualified local book reviewers. The selected writers will be attending conference workshops with a draft of their assigned reviews. New Book Reviewer Project selected critics include: Sarah Watson, Edgar Russell, Mercedes Hesselroth, Morgan Musselman, Michael Saint-Andress, Clare Mulroy, and Dylan Klempner.
Book and writer selection were made by Holly Smith, Chris Kain, Robert Bettmann, Phil Davis, and Jonetta Rose Barras. Books being reviewed within the conference include:
