Save the Dates for Crossing Borders: an Arts Journalism Conference Sept 21-25, 2020

We’re excited to share details for our upcoming, third annual, arts journalism conference, set to occur online Sept 21-25. The conference is virtual, the insights are real.

This year’s conference theme is Crossing Borders, and features workshops taught by experts including Hrag Vartanian (Hyperallergic Editor in Chief), Carolina Miranda (LA Times Culture Critic), Soraya McDonald (Undefeated Culture Critic) and Anying Guo (Washington Post Arts), and keynotes by Michael Bolden (Annenberg), Maura Judkis (Washington Post), Ebone Bell (Tagg) and Paul Schmelzer (Walker).

All session will occur on zoom. The panels and keynotes will be recorded and later streamed to social media.

The workshops will not be recorded, or live streamed, and are capped at 15 attendees.

To attend via zoom registration is required. Individuals attending via zoom will be able to participate in discussions, and chat.

Registration is not yet live. Join the conference group — 150 members so far! — to be notified when registration goes live. Join us to share your perspective on how arts journalists interpret and create culture.

Below is a detailed day-by-day agenda including seven exceptional roundtable discussions with moderators Jennifer Mitchell, Michael Kerry Williams, Angela N Carroll, Sean Murphy, and Ebone Bell. All events are free, with some spots reserved for staff of partnering student and professional publications. A huge THANK YOU to the conference planning committee, which has been meeting at least monthly since January to plan and produce the upcoming conference.
