Day Eight is pleased to announce editors for the Mid-Atlantic Review in 2026. The team includes ongoing members of the editorial team and guest editors, and the 2026 calendar includes a special section of poems celebrating 250 years of U.S. history to publish May and June, 2026.
The editors for January and February, 2026, are Gregory Luce and Holly Karapetkova. The cutoff for submission consideration by these editors will be January 15, 2026. Gregory Luce is the author of five books of poems, the co-founder of Washington Unbound, and an editor of the Mid-Atlantic Review. Holly Karapetkova is the Poet Laureate Emerita of Arlington County, Virginia, author of two award-winning books of poetry, and an editor of the Mid-Atlantic Review.
The editors for March and April, 2026, are Anne Becker and Teri Cross Davis. The cutoff for submission consideration by these editors will be March 15, 2026. Anne Becker is the author of three books of poetry, past Poet Laureate of Takoma Park, MD, and an editor of the Mid-Atlantic Review. Teri Ellen Cross Davis is the author of Haint (Gival Press, 2016), winner of the 2017 Ohioana Book Award for Poetry, and a guest editor for 2026.
In May and June, the Review will publish a special section Honoring American History and inspired by the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The editors of the section will be Amuchechukwu Nwafor, Robert Bettmann, and Carolivia Herron. Submission will be open for the special section from February 15 to April 1, 2026. A maximum of 150 submissions will be considered. Amuchechukwu Nwafor is a D.C.-based writer and educator, winner of the 2024 DC Poet Project, author of Salt Water Roots (Day Eight, 2024.) Robert Bettmann is the managing editor of the Mid-Atlantic Review and co-editor with Susan Meehan of the interfaith poetry anthology, Falling Leaves (Day Eight, 2019.) Carolivia Herron is an American writer of children’s and adult literature, a scholar of African-American Judaica, and an Advisory Editor of the Mid-Atlantic Review.
The editors for July and August, 2026, are Regie Cabico and Sean Felix (guest editor.) The cutoff for submission consideration by these editors will be June 15, 2026. Regie Cabico is winner of top prizes in the 1993, 1994, and 1997 National Poetry Slams, author of A Rabbit in Search (Day Eight, 2023), and an editor of the Mid-Atlantic Review. Sean Felix is a poet and educator, author of the book Did You Even Know I Was Here? and a guest editor for 2026.
The editors for September and October, 2026, are Jacqueline Jules (guest editor) and Serena Agusto-Cox. The cutoff for submission consideration by these editors will be August 15, 2026. Jacqueline Jules is the author of six books of poetry, most recently, Manna in the Morning, and a guest editor for 2026. Serena Agusto-Cox writes the book review blog, Savvy Verse & Wit, is the founder of Poetic Book Tours, and an editor of the Mid-Atlantic Review. The editors for November and December, 2026, are to be announced.
The Mid-Atlantic Review is a literary magazine dedicated to supporting new and under-represented voices, with a focus on D.C. voices. Beginning March, 2025, there are two portals for submission to the Mid-Atlantic Review: one for DC area residents and one for non-DC residents.
