The book was designed by Design Action Collective and Leonard Jacobs (Director of the Cultural Institutions Unit at the New York Foundation for the Arts) wrote the introduction. The DCPL provides space for community organizations conducting programming that fits within the library's overall mission, and in partnering with the library Day Eight has reached scores of poets as well as readers interested to encounter and support local poets. - [American University Museum](https://dayeight.org/featured_item/american-university-museum/) - In 2017 Day Eight partnered with American University Museum to produce a website related to an exhibition of artworks that once hung in the Jefferson Place Gallery. The Jefferson Place Gallery was Dc's first artist cooperative gallery, and our site allows viewers to explore the artists and artwork that animated the space. In the image here family members of one of the artists explore her page on our archive site in the AU Museum Alper Initiative for Washington Art space.
- [Eco-Arts Retreat](https://dayeight.org/featured_item/eco-arts-retreat/) - We recently convened a day-long eco arts retreat with leading arts and environmental leaders at the Casey Trees farm in Virginia. The retreat provided a focused time to consider how arts and environmental organizations can work together, and by bringing together poets, funders, dancers, and campaign managers, Day Eight seeks to further our mission of increasing participation in the arts. Quality arts journalism supports the best achievements in the arts, and the DC Student Arts Journalism Challenge identifies and supports talented young arts journalists. - [The Quis Project](https://dayeight.org/featured_item/quis-project/) - Day Eight's "Quis" project brought together leading advocates in community and national security to increase dialogue about how we as individuals and a nation pursue security. Drawing from personal and family experiences, including the Holocaust, the project premiered with honorary hosts NSA Whistleblower Thomas Drake, and chair of the DC City Council Kwame Brown. The project included professional dancers and members of the community in public performances across the region. Read more about Quis here.
